 A first look at the spawn of your favorite Disney characters

Coming soon: The original movie Descendants, starring the children of your favorite Disney characters, and of course the children of your favorite Disney villains, who arrive in a burst of misunderstandings, teen drama, and apparently, an awful lot of zippers. Descendants looks to be a fun romp — especially if you’ve ever wondered what Maleficent’s kids must be like.

 Colin Cowherd would rather quit than commentate eSports; eSports probably fine with that

ESPN radio pundit Colin Cowherd went on a lovely behind-the-times rant about the rise of eSports in the wake of ESPN2 hosting the Heroes of the Dorm tournament. Cowherd, unsurprisingly, misses the entire point — that eSports and physical athletics are not at all the same thing, and that commentator overlap really isn’t there; and, frankly, that the eSports community probably has no real interest in listening to Cowherd’s uninformed opinion on video gaming “nerds”, the term he chose to apply, or the intricacies of eSport strategy. Meanwhile, we’re still awaiting word as to whether Sjokz will quit commentating if asked to cover NASCAR.

 First Looks: Will Smith as…Deadshot?

Will Smith took to social media to reveal his costume as Deadshot in the new Suicide Squad movie; to call the reviews “mixed” is to be overly diplomatic about the whole thing. Sporting a red leather jacket, a cowboy hat, and a cross necklace, Smith looks more than a far cry from the grizzled, metal-masked, red-tight-wearing former criminal that is Deadshot in the original DC Comics. Whether Smith is capable of doing the character justice remains to be seen — but following this reveal, the expectations have been set fairly low.

 Obama thanks Japan for anime and manga

More and more willing to indulge his more irreverent side, Obama’s recent remarks regarding a visit by Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, include a slightly tongue-in-cheek thank you to the country across the Pacific for things he believes young people thank Japan for — karate, anime, emojis….

 Hayley Atwell ships Peg and Angie

It’s been quite the week for Hayley Atwell; not only did has Agent Carter star responded positively to a fan’s tweet regarding a speculative in-character relationship, but she revealed a driver’s license photo taken in full Peg costume between scenes, appeared in the newly released Age of Ultron, got stuck in an airport lounge playing Captain America, and was named “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Movie Fan Central.
