Someone decided today was a great day to be a geek on the internet. Behold the final trailer for the Hobbit in all of its glory!
This looks intense, and incredible, and certainly nothing at all like the book. Of course, Bilbo sleeps through all of this in the book, so that could be why.
You know, there's been a lot of complaining about how much the Hobbit has been padded to make these films, and it certainly has. However, I'm glad we got the time to see Thorin grow and change before his hubris finally undoes him. The Thorin in the books is just kind of a jerk, Thorin in the films is a noble, tragic creature. What do you guys think?
Looks cool ... kinda looks like he's trying to top the RotK battle, but the book does describe it as five huge armies ... and the aftermath does imply a long battle, so while its not seen in the book, I have no problem with him bringing it to the screen. Having scenes with Sauron ... that's what I find most surprising, and what I'm interested in seeing how they go.
