TNT's "Titans" Line-up Revealed!

 

 

As a kid, one of my favorite series growing up was Marv Wolfman and George Perez's standard-setting New Teen Titans run.  The Justice League was always flashier, with epic storylines that spanned the galaxy, but something always seemed more...mechanical and straightlaced about the League of the time.  The Teen Titans, on the other hand, were tight-knit, character-driven personalities that acted like real people trying to grow up, and I've always had a soft spot for the band of sidekicks trying to reach independence as a family.

After a number of animated incarnations since the start of the millennium, the Teen Titans have graduated to the growing live-action DC Television Universe with TNT's order of an Akiva Goldsman / Mark Haines pilot for "The Titans".  Let's look at some of the history behind the characters that we may see brought to the screen -- and some of the glaring omissions from Teen Titans history.

Turbo Kid Trailer Rides a BMX into our Hearts

Radical. It's a word that doesn't get thrown around much anymore. But it may have to be brought out of retirement for the film Turbo Kid. A Sundance After Dark selection this year, Turbo Kid tells the story of the fight for survival in the blood soaked future of 1997. With teenagers in Mad Max outfits, tons of gore, and a theme that sounds just slightly different from Guile's Theme (it really does go with everything), Turbo Kid looks like the kind of film you'll be firing up in the middle of the night with your buddies for a good laugh. New York Comic Con Report!

New York Comic Con, held every year at The Jacob Javits Center and ran by ReedPop,  is runwith a skeleton crew of 40 blue shirt volunteers (sounds like a joke from Star Trek) risking life and limb to give us the best four days of comics, movies, tv shows and geek entertainment possible. With crowds of 150,000 on Thursday and reaching upwards of record breaking 250,000 (beating numbers at San Diego Comic Con!) on the highlight day, Saturday, this year’s show was the best yet in relation to organization, guests, panels and quality. However, it had a rocky start, with unprecedented ticket sales that were sold out in under 30 minutes online and at retailers. People were calling in every favor possible to score their passes.
