Episode 143: Somebody Better Open Up a Window!

Picture This week, Jarys invited their old friend Jasmine Joshua-Messenger into the podcast to talk about her newest show; the musical 1776 with a fully female cast. After Jasmine describes her first experience with 1776, they explore the myriad factors in producing a show, from Indiegogo to selling tickets. They touch on the passion driving the project as well as the difficulties. Somehow, they find the time to moralize their favorite author, the Late Sir Pratchett. Caution, history nerdetry within.

Episode 143!

Make sure to check out Jasmine's Indiegogo campaign!

Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion Launch Campaign for Convention-based Comedy

Do you miss Firefly? Well, join the rest of the galaxy in continuing to wait. But if you miss the actors from Firefly, wait no longer! (Or rather, wait a little longer.) The hilarious Alan Tudyk and his sidekick, Nathan Fillion, have teamed up to produce Con Man, a comedy about what it's like to be an actor from a cancelled-too-soon science fiction series working the convention circuit. It's a real stretch for them, let me tell you.

The promotional video on their IndieGoGo Page promises appearances from Felicia Day, Gina Torres, James Gunn and Seth Green, with more surprises to come as they raise more money, I'd imagine. Right now, the total they're looking for is only to produce the first three, ten minute episodes, but if they smash their funding goals they'll produce the whole series, and build a spaceship.

If that sounds like something you'd be interested in seeing, go forth! Click the link above, and give them your money!

UPDATE: As of 12:07 pm PST, they've already funded the first three episodes. But keep giving them your money so they can make the whole series!

Losing Your Mind in Crowdfunding

Hello there. It has been some time since I've graced this here website with an article, and I'm sorry about that, but I have been busy with creative endeavors elsewhere. That and Mike hasn't asked me to write an article since we got into that argument about who would win in a fight, Godzilla or Galactus. (Devourer of Worlds my ass -Ed) Chairs may have been hurled, egos bruised and an understanding on why us geeks don't fight each other: we get tried quickly and look ridiculous.

Anyway, my short hiatus was due to the fact that, aside from mocking films on the internet, I actually do try and make them myself in what spare time I have. My last film, Devil May Care was almost entirely crowdfunded, and went on to win some Best Of Awards at a couple of film festivals. I am currently in the middle of crowdfunding my next picture, a fantasy film-noir comedy called A Bad Luck Guy In A Bad Luck Town. Let me tell you, it's a freaking nightmare from which you cannot wait to wake up from.
