Civil War has Ant-Man, is Basically Avengers 3

Marvel put out a press release today announcing the full cast of Captain America: Civil War...and it is a lot of people. There's a full team of Avengers, plus all of Cap's supporting cast, plus Ant-Man, plus Black Panther, plus Sharon Carter and whoever Martin Freeman is playing. I haven't seen a movie this stuffed that wasn't called "The Avengers" before. And since the storyline of this film involves the Avengers and the consequences of their actions, I'm left to wonder how this is a Captain America movie at all. The good news is, it's Marvel. They haven't made a misstep yet. We'll see, when the film comes out on May 6th. View the full press release after the jump.

The Flash's Joe, Cisco, and Eddie Perform an Acapella Ballad of Serenity

The Flash's cast members keep impressing us with their extracurricular activities. You may have seen Cisco and the good/evil/good (stop confusing me, Flash writers!) Harrison Wells performing an acapella trombone performance over Christmas, but this one takes the cake. Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and Rick Cosnett (Eddie Thawne) break out into three part harmony to perform a beautiful, gospel-style rendition of the Ballad of Serenity. SELMA's brilliance shines a light on diversity - a light we all need to see.

Sunday's 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards were illuminating. For me, primarily because much has changed in the realm of equality, and it was apparent that even with the approximate 80% white attendance and nominations at the show, we are now continuing to see a steady stream of minority representation in the Hollywood & entertainment realms. That steady representation's message is one of continual improvement and change, which was the message behind the nominees. Specifically, that of the movie Selma. Last week I went with some very close friends to see a special pre-screening of Selma. The film took the post 1964 Civil Rights Act which desegregated the south and allowed blacks to vote, events in Selma, Alabama and made it into a gorgeous screenplay told in a docudrama format. Selma, was nothing short of perfectly cast by Aisha Coley, and brilliantly directed by Ava DuVernay. It is unmistakably Oscar worthy.
